A self-launched take on a guided 8-day Dalmatian walking-and-swimming week from Split to Hvar. Instead of a private guided tour, you string together Croatia's excellent public ferry network (Jadrolinija/Krilo), a couple of cheap local excursions, and self-guided hiking trails across Krka National Park, Brač, Vis and Hvar. Daily walks average 7–16 km on marked, well-signed paths, with sea swims at the end of each. Book ferries a few days ahead in summer, stay in hostels and guesthouses, and buy a national park ticket online to skip the queue. Costs here are approximate backpacker rates in GBP and exclude flights.
