Ilulissat is a town on the west coast of Greenland, sitting at roughly 69° north and home to around 4,500 people, making it the country's third-largest settlement. It is best known for the Ilulissat Icefjord — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — where the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, one of the world's most productive, calves enormous icebergs that drift through the fjord in dramatic fashion. Visitors come year-round: in summer for the midnight sun, hiking trails along the fjord rim, and whale watching; in winter for the northern lights and dog sledding across frozen landscapes. It is one of the most accessible destinations in the Arctic for travellers seeking raw polar scenery and indigenous Greenlandic culture.

Missions

Nobody's posted a Mission for Ilulissat, Greenland yet — which, frankly, is an opportunity.

Wait, what's a Mission? It's not a scheduled trip with dates and a minimum group size like a Departure — it's a goal. Learn to dive, do a Muay Thai camp, live somewhere for a month and work on something, chase one very specific experience. Post it, and other people chasing the same thing find you.

Be the first to post one: "Learn the first 20 seconds of a local dance, then perform it, uninvited, at every bar you visit."
