A self-launched version of the classic 8-day Delhi–Agra–Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur heritage loop. Instead of a private car, driver and guide, you string the route together using India's excellent (and cheap) train network plus short private cab hops, sleeping in hostels and small guesthouses/havelis. You'll see the same sights — Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Amber Fort, Mehrangarh Fort and Lake Pichola — at your own pace, with no forced shopping stops.
