Trek the Giants of Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains — Self-Launched Edition

A self-launched version of the classic Karakoram Baltistan trek, reaching the base camps of Masherbrum (K1), K7 and K6 via the little-visited Charakusa Valley. You arrange your own Islamabad arrival, book the Islamabad–Skardu flight (or Karakoram Highway jeep alternative), then hire a local Balti guide and licensed porters through a Skardu-based trekking agency, who provide camping gear, mess tent and food on the trail. Same route, same peaks, roughly a third of the group-tour price. A very remote, non-technical high-altitude trek — no teahouses anywhere on the route, all camping, and flights to Skardu are frequently delayed or cancelled, so build in buffer days. All costs are approximate and based on current backpacker/trekker rates in GBP.
