Lombok is a volcanic island in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, known for the towering Mount Rinjani, pristine white-sand beaches, and the turquoise waters surrounding the Gili Islands. Sumbawa, to the east, is a wilder, less-visited island famed among surfers for its legendary breaks, including Supersuck and Scar Reef. Moyo Island is a secluded nature reserve off Sumbawa's north coast, prized for snorkelling, waterfalls, and untouched jungle. Further east, the UNESCO-listed Komodo National Park draws travellers to encounter Komodo dragons and dive some of the world's richest marine biodiversity, while the island of Flores offers dramatic volcanic landscapes, traditional villages, and the multicoloured crater lakes of Kelimutu.
