Nepal (Langtang, Gosainkunda & Helambu, Kathmandu Valley)

A self-launched version of the classic 15-day Langtang–Gosainkunda–Helambu circuit, done independently with public buses, teahouse lodges and locally hired guides/porters only where you want them (mandatory guide rules apply in Langtang National Park, so budget for a licensed guide — but you can hire one privately/directly and split the cost between trekkers found in Kathmandu). You'll walk from Syabru Besi up the Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa, acclimatise with a Kyanjin Ri sunrise climb, then cross the rhododendron forests of the red panda sanctuary to the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda, over the 4,610m Lauribina La, and down through Helambu's Tamang and Sherpa villages to Sundarijal. All costs are approximate per-person estimates in GBP, based on budget teahouse rates, and exclude international flights and travel insurance. Note: independent trekking in Langtang requires a TIMS card and Langtang National Park permit (obtainable at the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu), plus a licensed guide under current regulations.
