A self-launched take on G Adventures' 11-day Arctic expedition from Tromsø to Longyearbyen. Instead of a 128-passenger expedition ship with zodiac landings at Bear Island and South Spitsbergen, this version combines independent travel through Arctic Norway (Tromsø, fjords, Lyngen Alps) with a commercially scheduled passenger voyage on the regular Hurtigruten/Svalbard express route or a short-haul flight to Longyearbyen, plus budget day tours for glacier hikes, wildlife spotting and kayaking. Note: full expedition-style zodiac landings in South Spitsbergen National Park and around Bear Island are not replicable independently — these are permit-controlled expedition cruise zones. This itinerary gets you to the same latitudes and landscapes via public transport, hostels and self-bookable day tours at a fraction of the price.
