PrestiGo Asia charges £910

£410saved per person (45%)

No-markup version: ~£500 per person

Estimate only, not a guaranteed price. Always verify costs independently before booking.

A self-launched version of PrestiGo Asia's 10-day Bali & Yogyakarta group tour: Kuta beaches, Ubud rice terraces and temples, the Unesco giants of Borobudur and Prambanan, and Javanese royal Yogyakarta — done with guesthouses, local drivers, budget flights and Grab instead of a guided coach. Same headline experiences, roughly a third of the price, and total freedom over your free days. Costs are backpacker/budget-traveller estimates in GBP and will vary by season and how much you DIY.

Day-by-day

Day 1

Arrive in Bali — settle into Kuta/Legian

Kuta, Bali

Land at Ngurah Rai (DPS), grab a Grab or Blue Bird taxi to Kuta/Legian (about £3-5, ignore the aggressive airport touts). Check into a guesthouse or budget hotel a few streets back from the beach. Spend the afternoon acclimatising: swim at Legian Beach, watch sunset from Kuta Beach, and eat cheap nasi campur or babi guling at a warung. Sort a local SIM (Telkomsel, ~£6-8 for 15GB) and download Grab and Gojek for the week ahead.

Temple loop: Taman Ayun, Jatiluwih, Ulun Danu Bratan, Tanah Lot

This is the big temple day, normally done by tour vehicle. Book a private driver for the day via Klook or GetYourGuide (~£40-50 for the car, split between 2-4 travellers from your hostel, or join a shared small-group day tour for £18-25 pp). Route: Taman Ayun in Mengwi, the Jatiluwih rice terraces (better and emptier than Tegallalang; entry ~£3), Ulun Danu Bratan on the lake (~£3.50), and finish at Tanah Lot for sunset (~£3.50). Ask the driver to drop you in Ubud rather than back in Kuta — agree this when booking. Check into an Ubud guesthouse.

Then visit Candirejo village near Borobudur and take a traditional andong (horse cart) ride (~£8-10, arrange in the village). Finish at Prambanan (~£15 foreigner ticket) in the late afternoon light. Cheaper route: normal Borobudur entry ~£15 (grounds only unless you buy the structure ticket). Note Borobudur's top levels close to climbers one Monday a month — check ahead.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Indonesia Uncovered: Bali & Yogyakarta Self-Launched (10 Days) cost?+

Doing it yourself with this self-launched itinerary costs an estimated £500 per person for 10 days in Bali & Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This is an AI-generated estimate based on typical budget-traveller prices — actual costs will vary by season and how you book.

Is this cheaper than booking with PrestiGo Asia?+

Yes — PrestiGo Asia charges around £910 per person for a similar tour. Doing the same route independently, using the same standard of accommodation and activities, costs an estimated £500 — a saving of roughly £410 (45%) per person.

How long is the Bali & Yogyakarta, Indonesia trip?+

This itinerary runs 10 days, covering 10 day-by-day stops through Bali & Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

How do I join this trip?+

You can join an existing open departure using this itinerary if one is scheduled, or launch your own departure with your own dates and invite other travellers to join you — no tour operator required.

Isn't it easier to just use a tour operator?+

Well, yes, a tour operator will book all the individual parts of your travel for you and provide a guide. That's obvious, but doing this has the potential to save the group thousands, which can in turn improve your itinerary substantially or save you huge amounts of money. Also, when you launch a departure, Travel Crew has tools in place to help you book the individual sections of the trip or make it easier for you to do this as a group. Really, you do not need a middle man. If you are more comfortable paying more and using a middle man, then you should certainly do this.

Is it safer to book through a tour operator?+

Arguably, there isn't much difference. A self-launched trip runs on the same principle as a group travel crew: collective responsibility, everyone looking out for each other, the same way it would if a group of friends organised the trip themselves — because that's exactly what's happening. You should always take out travel insurance before you go, self-launched or not; that doesn't change either way. Every open departure is published publicly with real dates and a real trip organiser, so it's never an anonymous arrangement, and our support team is reachable any time you need help, including in an emergency while you're away. Longer-term, we're building direct relationships with ground DMCs in popular destinations, offered as an optional paid add-on for extra on-the-ground support. Ultimately, though, the group is responsible for its own conduct and safety on a self-launched trip, same as on any trip you plan yourself.

What kind of trip is this?+

This is a culture, adventure, beaches trip through Bali & Yogyakarta, Indonesia, self-launched rather than run by a tour operator — you organise it with a group you find or bring yourself.
