16 days · Morocco

Intrepid Travel charges £835

£68saved per person (8%)

No-markup version: ~£767 per person

Estimate only, not a guaranteed price. Always verify costs independently before booking.

Experience the very best of Morocco independently — from the imperial cities of Casablanca, Meknes and Fes, through the dramatic Sahara Desert, along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, into the sensory overload of Marrakech, and out to the surf-soaked Atlantic coast at Taghazout and Essaouira. This self-launched route mirrors Intrepid Travel's popular Epic Morocco (XMYCC) tour, swapping group tour markups for local trains, shared transfers, self-bookable activities and budget riads — at a fraction of the price. All costs are approximate estimates per person.

Day-by-day

Day 1

Arrival in Casablanca

Casablanca

Arrive in Casablanca, Morocco's largest and most cosmopolitan city. Check into your hostel or budget hotel near the city centre. Spend the day exploring at your own pace — wander the Old Medina and its ancient city walls, then hop in a petit taxi (negotiate the fare, expect ~20–30 MAD) to the Quartier Habous, the French-built 'new medina' full of shaded arcades, souks and great spots for a Moroccan coffee. In the evening, connect with fellow travellers at your accommodation. Note: locals may approach you offering tours near popular hotels — stick to vetted, self-booked options.

🚌Arrive via Mohammed V International Airport. Take the Al Bidaoui train from the airport to Casa Voyageurs station (~£3, 35 mins). Use petit taxis locally (negotiate fares, ~£1–3 per ride).

Check into a traditional riad guesthouse where you'll experience genuine family hospitality. Alternatively, book a shared day-tour transfer from Fes with a local operator (many guesthouses can arrange this for £25–35).
