Taghazout to Essaouira — Argan Cooperative & Medina Walking Tour

Essaouira

Rise early to catch the sunrise over the Atlantic, then travel north to Essaouira. En route, ask your driver to stop at a female-led Argan oil cooperative — these are signposted along the N1 coastal road and welcome visitors for free demonstrations of the traditional oil-pressing process. Sample the oil, amlou (almond and argan paste) and locally produced honey. Arrive in Essaouira — the 'windy city' — and explore on foot. The UNESCO-listed medina is compact and walkable. Follow the ramparts along the sea wall (skala), visit the blue-painted fishing port, and browse the woodworking workshops and art galleries the town is famous for.
