No-markup version: ~£1,875 per person

Estimate only, not a guaranteed price. Always verify costs independently before booking.

This self-launched itinerary covers the same epic Auckland-to-Christchurch route as Stray Travel's Ruru Select tour — Waitomo, Rotorua, Taupo, Tongariro, Wellington, Abel Tasman, the West Coast glaciers, Queenstown, Fiordland, and Mount Cook — but booked entirely independently. You'll swap the guided coach for a mix of intercity buses (InterCity/FlixBus NZ), the Interislander ferry, and local shuttles; trade premium lodge packages for quality hostels and budget motels; and book activities directly or via GetYourGuide and Klook. All costs are approximate estimates per person based on 2025/26 budget traveller rates in GBP.
