Welcome to Glasgow

Arrive in Glasgow and check in to your hostel. Glasgow is far more than a gateway city — spend the day soaking up its world-class free museums, vibrant street art and buzzing café scene. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a must and completely free. Wander the City Centre Mural Trail, stroll along the River Clyde, and explore the eerie Cathedral and Necropolis. In the evening, head to the West End for dinner and maybe a whisky or two to kick off your Scottish adventure.

Scenic Train to Oban

Oban

Board the West Highland Line train from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban — one of the most scenic rail journeys in Europe, passing lochs, mountains and moorland for around 3 hours. Arrive in Oban, a charming seaside town nicknamed the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. Do your own orientation walk along the Corran Esplanade, climb up to McCaig's Tower for panoramic views (free), and consider a visit to Dunstaffnage Castle nearby. In the evening, grab fresh seafood from one of the harbour stalls or sit down at a local restaurant.

Isle of Mull Day Trip: Hike & Cheese Farm

Isle of Mull (day trip from Oban)

Take the CalMac ferry from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull — a short, scenic 45-minute crossing. From Craignure, take the local West Coast Motors bus up to Tobermory, Mull's colourful harbour town. Lace up your boots and hike the trail past Tobermory Harbour into Aros Park, with views over the Sound of Mull and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. In the afternoon, head to the Isle of Mull Cheese Farm near Tobermory for a self-guided or guided tour — a 50-year-old family-run dairy farm powered by renewable energy.
