Small Group itineraries

A self-launched version of G Adventures' 15-day Kenya & Uganda overland camping loop, rebuilt for independent travellers. You'll do the same big-ticket experiences — Masai Mara game drives, Lake Nakuru, a mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi, chimpanzee tracking at Kalinzu, and Nile adventures in Jinja — but using public matatus, shuttles and shared safari vehicles, staying in hostels, budget camps and guesthouses, and booking permits and day tours directly. The gorilla permit is the single biggest fixed cost (~£570-700) and must be booked months ahead through the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Everything else follows overland travel patterns: long-ish bus days, camping-style or budget rooms, and self-organised safaris. Costs are approximate backpacker rates in GBP and exclude international flights. Note: most of the budget savings come from doing the Mara/Nakuru legs on group join-in camping safaris rather than a private vehicle.
